Beard or Beard Not. There is no try.
People come up to me all the time and ask me about my beard. How long it took to grow? Do I use products on it? Can they touch it? How did I get it so soft? How do I get it so straight?
After having discussions with many, many people who say they wish they could have a beard but can’t get it past a certain stretch or obstacle for one reason or another, we decided to make a post on it.
Let us be clear, YOU CAN HAVE A ROCKIN BEARD. It may not be the exact beard you always wished for. It may be curlier, straighter, more full in one area or the other…to which we reply “that’s awesome.” The bearded world would be super boring if everyone had the same exact beard. The key is to find how to make yours the best it can be.
Here are the top reasons people say they can’t grow a beard:
Reason #1: After a week or two it gets too itchy.
Solution: If you can’t stand the itch, use beard oil in the beginning stages of beard development. Beard oil isn’t just for your hairs but for your skin underneath the hair. It moisturizes and conditions it. It delivers vitamins and softens the hair and the skin. Once it gets past that itchy stage, continue to use beard oil to keep your beard and the skin hidden away soft and moisturized.
Reason #2: My significant other doesn’t like it
They probably don’t know if they like it or not. They may not like the scruff stage as it can be itchy for them as well when in close quarters. But the hard work will more than pay off when they’re running their hands through a full healthy beard and have their head buried in it for the scent it’s throwing off due to the superior beard oil you are using on the daily.
Solution: Don’t cave. Show you know best. Man up and do what you want to do. We’re shocked by how many people haven’t given a beard a shot
Reason #3: It comes in patchy
First of all looking like Wolverine is pretty awesome. Second, you need to give your beard time to grow and fill in the gaps. Many people start off with patchy beards only to realize it doesn’t matter all that much when the hairs get longer and cover the space.
Solution: Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was your face sweater. Invest in your face and the rewards will be plenty.
The underlying theme here is to just go for it. Don’t “see how it goes.” Don’t “give it a shot.” Grow the damn thing for once in your life. You’ll be glad you did.
