Wesley from imanscape.com stopped by to guest post. Have a read on some great winter beard hacks below.
It’s that time of year again where everyone’s putting on their hoodies and preparing for the cold weather. Don’t leave your beard out in the cold! Be prepared to show your beard a little tender loving care (TLC).
A lot of us don’t give much thought to how changing weather can affect our beard. Most of us aren’t wired to think about it, but lucky for you we’ve put together a helpful post that’ll make sure your beard continues to grow healthy during these cold months.
Perfect Time for Growth
Now is the perfect time to just let your beard grow. Extra length on your beard looks great with sweaters and hoodies anyhow. Take advantage of “beard season” to maybe get away with some things your wife wouldn’t let you before.
The Problem with Cold Weather
The main issue with cold weather is the damage it’ll cause to your beard. Cold is the root of winter evil and it’s coming to damage your beard.
Cold weather will dry out your beard hair. Making it brittle, causing tangles, and making it harder to manage. There’s a couple things you can do to fight back against cold weather and luckily for you it’s not expensive.
Follow some of these tips to fight the cold:
Wash your beard 2 – 3 times per week using warm water. Stay away from water that’s too hot. Get a temperature somewhere in the middle that’s warm.
Use a good beard conditioner in the shower. Beard conditioner can be purchased rather cheaply and will combat the cold.
Towel dry your beard in the winter. Avoid using any type of hair dryer. You don’t want to add to the back and forth temperature change and continue to cause more damage.
The special sauce: Buy yourself some beard oil! If you don’t already own some beard oil today’s the day you start. You now even have an excuse to go out and buy some.
Beard oil will protect your beard when you’re out in cold weather. It’s going to be your go to product for beard protection.
The oil will keep your beard from drying out and becoming brittle. It’ll stay fresh looking and will help more than anything else to prevent damage to your beard.
Another great thing about beard oil is that it only takes a couple small drops for the entire day. Usually 2 – 3 drops is enough. If you have a very long beard you might want to go upwards of 5.
It only takes a few minor changes to keep your beard looking healthy through the winter. Don’t let these tips go without action. There’s no excuse not to take control and keep your beard looking great!
